Our story
Located on the busy market-square is the award winning Huffkins Cafe and Bakery. It’s a place that we always gravitate to whenever we visit the Stow-on-the-wold. The tall windows let in a lot of natural light and this makes it a perfect place to watch the world go-by.
Huffkins is located in a grade II listed Cotswold stone building, the left section home to the bakery and the right section houses the cafe. It may look small from the outside, on entering you’ll feel the Tardis-effect and the cafe opens up to seat an impressive number of people. The staff on hand are always polite and thoughtful. On one occasion we were seated already, the staff member serving us offered us “better seats at the window”, which in reflection was brilliant customer service.
The food
We’ve eaten snacks, sandwiches and cakes at Huffkins, each order is very reasonably priced, the portion size is always on the side of large and the speed between kitchen to table is very fast. The selection Huffkins offer is wide enough to please most customers and narrow enough to not overload the chef(s). The artisan coffee’s are very nicely prepared, sweet and without bitterness, the way coffee should be served (lesser high-street chain stores take note).
If you are a chocoholic, try the Peanut Butter brownie. Even I, a seasoned eater of desserts, was put into a sugar coma after eating a slice of this amazing brownie. If you’ve been out for a long walk or you’re coming in out of the rain, this is the kind of food that relieves stress and literally buries you in comfort.
When did we go?
As mentioned, we are regularly visitors to Stow-on-the-wold, having been to Huffkins a number of times, each and every time was a pleasant and friendly experience that keeps us coming back for more. We will definitely be returning in the near future so perhaps (reader) our paths may cross.
